The beautiful Vrana Lake on Cres is a natural karst phenomenon. It is probably named after the village of Vrana, which offers a spectacular view of the lake, but the locals call it only" "Lake". It is also considered the deepest lake in all of Eastern Europe. The lake is a cryptodepression, meaning that its water level is above sea level and its bed is below sea level. The lake supplies the inhabitants of Cres and the Loshinj islands with fresh and drinking water. Due to its incredible characteristics, it is protected and access to it is limited, so you can enjoy the beautiful view of this unique lake only from afar, from the surrounding village of Vrana.

We enjoyed camping around this lake. It was such a beautiful scenery. We would watch birds of different species till evening or kayak on the lake. There are plenty activities one could take part in when visiting this lake.

On my visit to this location, I was educated about the beautiful lake. I learned that it was a crypto depression meaning its water level is above sea level and that it provided fresh water to the inhabitants of Cres and Losinj island.

I was awed by the beauty of this location. I spent my days watching the beautiful birds that spent their time on the lake and toured the beautiful luscious vegetation around the lake. The location provides a therapeutic, calm ambiance.

I was one of the lucky people to be granted access to the lake, it has limited access. The fresh waters of the lake were very refreshing to drink and also view, I had never tasted water direct from a water body before. It is well protected
