Trakoscan

Trakoscan is a beautiful, almost unreal, fairy tale and one of the most romantic places you have ever seen. Best known for its castle located in Hrvatsko Zagorje, not far from Varazhdin, with a park and lake whose history lasts almost 800 years. It used to be a small fortress and part of the defense system for northwestern Croatia Trakošćan often changed hands until Count Drashkovich turned it into one of the most beautiful castles in the 19th century.The castle is a cultural and historical monument of great importance and is one of the few buildings in Croatia with its own material. For more than half a century, it houses a museum with a valuable collection of paintings, furniture, weapons and priceless objects from the Renaissance to Historicism. They are exhibited in the original interior of the castle and represent the life of the nobility and the Drashkovich family in Trakoscan. You can even play a piano from the early 19th century in the music salon.Discover the natural wonders of the forest park Trakoscan and its surroundings by moving along the educational trail "Puta vila" with 20 educational stops. It is 5 kilometers long and takes about 2 hours to walk. Relax in the fisherman's cottage, one of the informative places. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the beautiful Croatian Zagorje.
