The ruins of the Old Town of Canjevo are located in the municipality of Visoko on a rock above the town of Canjevo.Canjevo Fortress is located on the southwestern slopes of the Kalnichki gorje in the Municipality of Visoko, which territorially belongs to Varazhdin County. There are very few historical sources about the fort, and more serious archaeological research and excavations began only in 2003.Here is the Chanjevac fort (castrum Chanyo), which was first mentioned in 1598. The fort is located above the village on the central peak of the Ribelj hill, which belongs to the slopes of the high Kalnik mountains, at about 320 m above sea level.Every year in October, the battle for Canjevo is held on the fort itself, which shows the real historical conflict between the Ottoman army and the Visoko harams, in order to encourage the development of the area and educate about it. Every year, a large number of visitors gather at this event, both locals and guests from all over Varazhdin and neighboring counties, and it is the only event that raises citizens' awareness of this important part of our history and cultural heritage.

We joined the locals in the event of the battle for Chanjevo that depicts the historical and cultural heritage of this place. We took photos near the ruins of the Old Town of Chanjevo for memories too. The fortress is a must see for every historian.

I was attracted to this place by the fort on the hill. It stood majestically on the hill in such a cool manner. I enjoyed looking at it and imagining the events that took place there many years ago.
