Groznjan
Die wunderschöne mittelalterliche Stadt Groznjan - eine berühmte Künstler- und Musikstadt - liegt nur zwanzig Autominuten von Umag in Istrien entfernt. Der von Terrassen mit alten und fruchtbaren Olivenhainen und Weinbergen umgebene Hügel ist eigentlich eine Sandsteinerhebung, die durch die Wirkung der beiden Flüsse Kanistran und Pistion entstanden ist. Von Grožnjan aus hat man einen herrlichen Blick auf etwa zwanzig umliegende istrische Dörfer, das Tal des schönen Flusses Mirna und das klare, kristallklare Meer von Novigrad bis Umag. Die kleinen, niedlichen, eng gebauten Häuser und die stolze Burg zeugen eindeutig von der reichen mittelalterlichen Vergangenheit des Ortes, und fast jede Tür in diesem charmanten Städtchen erzählt interessante Geschichten über das alte Graeciniana.

Small town on a hill, with a church, stone houses traditional for Croatian towns. When we were there, at the entrance to the town there was a sale with all sorts of antiques, it was very interesting to see, and my wife bought an old painted vase.

A very small place with only a few restaurants, but there are some interesting shops, quite authentic, yet in good condition.

I was thrilled to discover Grozhnjan as an artistic town. The old stone buildings have been restored splendidly to my amazement. Ancient buildings have also been preserved there.

During my last vacation to this destination, I enjoyed plenty of jazz music and live band performance, and I loved local delicacies served in the restaurants.

I bought the best olive oil in some store there and when I brought a jar home, my wife really liked it.

My family visited the artistic studios and galleries where we bought some handmade crafts. We got paintings and carvings, all made with love.

My husband and I decided to have our wedding anniversary in a church on the town and it was fabulous. Gave me the vintage feeling that we'll grow old together.
