Gracisce is located on a cliff above Chepichko polje, a former lake. This place was named Gallignan by the ancient Gauls 2000 years ago, and the Slavs named it Gracisce after settling in Istria in the 6th and 7th centuries. Near the town, a kilometer away, is the mystical hill Perunchevac, named after the supreme god of the ancient Slavs - Perun, who was a supernatural being, the god of lightning, wind and storm. At the top of the hill there is also Perun's altar, which gives the feeling that Gracisce is actually a space arranged for privileged, in this case divine persons. One of the striking features of Gracisce today is its urban structure: the division of the once walled city into quarters, and each of them has its own square with a church. The most representative is of course the center of the city - Plac, with the church of the Mother of God, the chapel of St. Anthony and the Palace of Solomon.Surrounded by lush vegetation and beautiful scenery that is great for walking and exploring, Gracisce is a great destination for those visitors looking for outdoor activities. As a reward for visiting this place you will get a beautiful panoramic view that extends to the surrounding hills and mountains.
