The beautiful medieval town of Groznjan - a famous city of artists and music, is only twenty minutes drive from Umag in Istria. Its hill surrounded by terraces planted with old and fertile olive groves and vineyards is actually a sandstone elevation created by the action of two streams, Kanistran and Pistion. From Groznjan there is a magnificent view of about twenty surrounding Istrian villages, the valley of the beautiful river Mirna and the clear, crystal clear sea all the way from Novigrad to Umag. The small, cute, narrowly built houses and its pride-castle clearly testify to its rich medieval past and almost every door in this charming town has interesting stories to tell about ancient Graeciniana.
