Grohote
Najstarije i najveće mjesto na otoku oduvijek je baš kao i sada bilo gospodarsko i administrativno središte otoka iako su stanovnici pretežito bili vapnari, poljoprivrednici i ribari. Centar mjesta čine uske nepravilne ulice koje zatvaraju kučice, u djelomično utvrđene cjeline s unutarnjim dvorištima i konobama, te kao takve odaju rustikalni, stari mediteranski šarm dok šećete tim istim kamenim uličicama. Ovi stari vrijedni primjeri arhitekture pridonose doživljaju autentičnog otočnog ambijenta, upravo zbog toga stremi se obnovi s ciljem očuvanja tradicionalnih otočnih arhitekonskih vrijednosti. Način života na otoku kroz povijest vjerodostojno je predočen u nekim scenama poznate hrvatske televizijske serije Velo misto čije je snimanje dobrim dijelom odrađeno upravo u Grohotama.

The interesting history of this place and the features that precede it is what keeps us coming back. Of interest is how they have preserved their history in a film. The film shows the way of life of people in this town.

The place is charming with beautiful architectural buildings that have been well designed. The evening walks on the streets were therapeutic and the different sites showcased the rich history and the cultural heritage that it holds altogether.

This place was where the famous tv series was filmed. I visited these scenes and recalled the actors and felt connected with them. My tour could not have been complete without enjoying local delicacies at a famous tavern in town. It was amazing to be here.
