Susak is a unique island in the Adriatic both in terms of its origin and appearance. The island appears on nautical charts very early, first under the Roman name Sansacus or Sansegus. The first mention of the island in written sources dates back to the middle of the 9th century, when the Saracens and the Venetians clashed in its waters. Most inhabitants live on the island of Susak after the end of II. world war. Since 1985, Susak has been celebrating Emigrants' Day, the last Sunday in July. The first settlement, whose origins date back to Roman times, originated on a fertile plateau and is called Gornje selo, while Donje selo, located in the port, is more recent, built during the heyday of viticulture in the late 19th century.Due to its isolation, Susak has preserved its archaic speech (protected as a movable cultural asset), specific customs and picturesque costumes.

The history of this Island dates back to the 9th Century. It is really isolated, which I found to be a good thing since its beauty has been preserved very well. I loved their vineyards. They were marvelous

This Island's history was so fascinating. I enjoyed swimming in its waters and sunbathing on its beaches. The surrounding was so quiet and peaceful. This island is so secluded with little population.

I noticed that this location has a distinctive and authentic culture that they have preserved over the years. First the archaic speech, which they have maintained due to their isolation, and cultural costumes worn during festivals. It was great experiencing the culture of the people.

I was able to attend some of the festivals and events held in this location and it was riveting. I attended the Emigrants' day celebrated the last Sunday of July and they began the tradition in 1985. I will bring my wife in the next visit.

My kids enjoyed sunbathing on the sun loungers and swimming in the crystal clear blue sea. The restaurants in the place make magical and tasty sushi which are my kids favourite. The island has its ways of charming your way to it.
