The municipality of Darda is located in the southwestern part of Baranja, in Croatia. It is about ten kilometers away from the city of Osijek, which is the seat of the County. Darda was first mentioned in the time of the Roman Empire, but under the name Tarda. Located just a few kilometers from Mursa-today's Osijek, Darda was an unavoidable stop for many merchants who came from today's Russia, Central and Northern Europe.Having perished during the war, Darda has managed to develop and glorify the beauties it has to this day. Namely, in the center of Darda there is the famous, preserved castle of the old Hungarian family Esterházy, which next to the castle also owned the church of St. John the Baptist. Next to the castle there are three beautiful lakes for swimming, and the castle itself is the largest as such in the whole of Baranja.
