Drvenik Veli is an island located in the central Dalmatian archipelago, northwest of the island of Sholta, about 2 km from the mainland. The island of Drvenik Veli is 12 kilometers square big. The island was first inhabited in the 15th century. The first inhabitants were shepherds and nomads, mostly from the hinterland of Trogir and Drvenik near Makarska, who were fleeing from the Turks. Drvenik Veli is an island of peace, untouched nature, clear sea and beautiful beaches. The coast is rugged and consists of many coves with sandy and pebble beaches. The most beautiful beach is Krknjashi, located on the southeast coast of this island. From the outside, the bay is protected by two islands, the large and the small Krknjash. During the summer this beach is full of boats anchored in front of the beach. You can reach the island by any taxi boat or ferry that will take you to the main village of Drvenik, and you can reach Krknjash on foot, it will take about 30 minutes.

I toured this beautiful location and noticed that it had a rugged coastline with many caves, sandy and pebble beaches. I particularly loved the Krknjash beach with its beautiful waters and relaxing beach. I enjoyed my summer vacation in this location.

I got to learn about the history of the location. The island was first inhabited in the 15th century by nomads and shepherds from the hinterland of Trogir and Drvenik who were fleeing from the Turkish invasion. It was a mind-blowing learning experience.

Unaltered nature that is soothing on sight and lovely place to spend time at. We visited the place and were amazed by the beautiful beach and the caves in it that we had the time to walk around. Pebble beaches that are lovely and one to have fun at.
