Sveti Ivan Zelina, a picturesque town with a population of about 2700, situated in the Lonja River Valley, 37 km northeast of Zagreb. This is the old cultural and economic seat of the area called Hrvatsko prigorje. Today, the town is known for its wines and its attractive wine road that passes through the wine-growing villages from Donja Zelina, towards Nespesh and Gornje Psarjevo, and on to Sveti Ivan Zelina. The town has been a settlement since the Bronze Age, which is best seen in the wealth of cultural monuments (chapels, churches, medieval burg of Zelingrad). There are diverse sports and recreation options (tennis, hiking, cycling, motorcycling, etc.). The Zelina sports and recreation center lies near the center of the town.
