The town of Prelog is located on the left bank of the river Drava and consists of a total of 8 settlements, which makes it the second largest city in Međimurje County. The geographical position of this city is what elevates it bove other cities in the same region, and makes it a very desirable tourist destination.Namely, Prelog is located in a very busy place, near very large cities, and is in such a place that almost all foreign travelers simply have to go through the city. This is, of course, very good, both for tourism and for its economy. The city is also bordered by untouched nature, various groves and forests which makes it a desirable location for an undisturbed stay in nature.Prelog also has an interesting history through the centuries. In the 1st century, the Romans appeared in this city and built many roads that were used by them, but also by many other peoples. In the 13th century, this city became a refuge for various noble and royal families. Throughout history, the city has been treated as a trading place, and from year to year it had more and more inhabitants. Prelog was proudly declared a Croatian city in 1997.Also, interesting fact is how Prelog is traditionally called the City of Speedway. Namely, for almost 40 years, the Prelog Speedway Club has been organizing top sports events on numerous well-known European speedway stages.
