Lively Zagreb is not only the capital and largest city of Croatia, but also the cultural, economic and political center of the country. It is located on the slopes of the beautiful hill Medvednica (Zagrebachka Gora) in the north and the floodplain of the Sava River in the south. The name "Zagreb" was first mentioned in 1094 when the Zagreb diocese of Kaptol was founded, and Zagreb became a free royal city in 1242, while the origin of the name remains a mystery despite several theories.Zagreb is a classic Central European city with clearly visible Austro-Hungarian, Viennese and Slavic influences. Prone to this, the Old Town of Zagreb consists of two medieval settlements on the hill: Grich, a civic settlement, which was renamed Gradec, and Kaptol, a church settlement, which was established in the 16th century. These two cities continued as rival entities until the 19th century, when it was joined by a series of new buildings and extended south to the floodplain of the Sava, with a rectilinear new city of squares and public buildings.Zagreb, as the capital of the country, offers something for everyone. Numerous restaurants, lively cafes, landscaped parks, a rich cultural and artistic scene and beautiful architecture are just some of the factors that make Zagreb a special place to visit and live.

I love Zagreb very much, it is one of the greenest cities in the summer and the most beautiful Advent in winter in all of Europe.

We come to Zagreb every year for Christmas, except for the last few years. We go ice skating, walk around the beautifully decorated city, the weather is usually good.

I was in Zagreb in the summer, only 1 day, but it was very filled with impressions: the Tesla Museum, a walk in the old city, where we also went for a Thai massage , and then drank an aperole in street caffe, just walked for a few hours, and then went up the funicular to see the city from above.

You can walk in Zagreb all day, the old town is very beautiful, and there are a lot of options for outdoor recreation.

My friends and I greatly enjoyed our trip to this beautiful city. We greatly admired the ancient architectural style buildings that looked really charming. We admired their artwork and took lots of pictures.
