Višnjan
Ime Višnjan vjerojatno potječe od latinske riječi Vicinianus što znači u blizini jer je Višnjan u prošlosti bio najbliži posjed Poreča u Istri. Najstariji pisani dokument u kojem mu se spominje ime je akt po kojemu su se određivale granice posjeda Sv. Maura iz 1003.g.Na području okolnog sela Strpačići udaljenog 1 km od Višnjana, pronađene su bakrene naušnice i igle iz brončanog doba. Ostaci iz tog razdoblja postoje na brežuljku Montemez u blizini Višnjana, a ime na keltskom znači lijepa uzvisina. Zapadno od Višnjana nalazilo se u antici i srednjem vijeku poznato naselje Dilian sa samostanom i crkvom sv. Mihovila iz 11. st. Radi značaja lokaliteta započela su istraživanja na međunarodnom nivou.Stanovnici Višnjana poznati su kao vrlo marljivi ljudi koji su do danas uspjeli sačuvati svoju autohtonost i stoga mogu ponuditi bogatu paletu tradicionalnih istarskih jela, kvalitetna vina renomiranih proizvođača, maslinovo ulje i mnoge druge tradicionalne i ekološke proizvode. Na odlasku ne zaboravite ponijeti jedinstven, originalni i ručno rađen suvenir lokalnih obrtnika kako biste se uvijek mogli prisjetiti svih lijepih trenutaka koje ste cijenili u Višnjanu.

The locals here are authentic and very friendly. During my visit, I got to experience traditional Istrian culture in terms of food, festivals, and talent of the locals. I tried the traditional meals which I loved and bought a handmade souvenir from the local craftsmen.

Visiting the west of Vishnjan, I learned about the ancient settlement of Dillan in antiquity and the middle ages. I also toured the monastery and church of St. Mihovil from the 11th century. It was a great experience and learned a lot about the culture and history of the people.

We visited the wineries and vineyards recommended by the guides and we absolutely loved the experience at the place. We enjoyed the wonderful history and farms with the vines and the processing of the wines too. Unforgettable moments as we had wine tasting of the different varieties and also had to get some for later on.

The place has alot of gift shop and i couldn't miss a chance of getting some amazing things crafted with an original touch to it. I picked some gifts for my kids back at home when i returned and also had some for myself too to remember of the amazing place it is.
