Općina Klenovnik je smještena pretežito na sjeveru Hrvatskog zagorja, a nalazi se između većih gradova- Lepoglave (udaljena 14 km), Ivanca (8 km), Trakošćana (28 km) te Varaždina (25 km), u Varaždinskoj županiji. U pisanim dokumentima Klenovnik se prvi puta spominje davne 1244 g. kao srednjovjekovni utvrđeni grad kojeg je iste godine Bela IV. darovao varaždinskomu županu Mihajlu. Od utvrde danas je ostao vidljiv prekrasan dvorac, koji je zapravo ujedno i najveći dvorac u Hrvatskoj, a drži i titulu spomenika nulte kategorije. Osim veličanstvenog dvorca u ovom području zanimljiva je i stara kapela sv. Wofganga, kao i prekrasno Pintarićevo raspeloGlavna klenovnička zanimljivost definitivno je činjenica kako prema nekim izvorima i pretpostavkama na osnovu nacrta gradnje spomenutog dvorca, Klenovnik je trebao postati glavni grad Hrvatske. Naime, u prošlosti je isti dvorac bio opisivan kao hrvatski Versailles.

The architectural design and style of the castle both from the outside and inside was eye catching. It made me admire and even appreciate the good work of the architects involved. We also toured the famous beautiful Pintarich crucifix which is a landmark for this place.

We were amazed by the beauty of the castle at this place. It was large with a well mowed garden. We sat at the garden and enjoyed the cool atmosphere. We then visited the old chapel and the unique crucifix. We enjoyed our tour.
Fares
A deep in the past is what can best describe my visit. The historical facts learned according to the locals makes it an interesting place to visit. Also a tour of the fort is a wonderful experience and it is made even more splendid with the view of a castle, the largest in Croatia I learned. A splendid place to visit.
