St. Luke's Chapel

The oldest preserved sacred building on the island, this little church, or a chapel, was built in the 11th century.

It’s architecture is a mix of styles and construction types. While it bears the features of a pre-Romanesque religious building it belongs to the Byzantine type of architecture, with a small round window and a large arch at the front. However, it also possesses the characteristics of southern Dalmatian architecture: the interior, and the external columns. Its Byzantine and Dalmatian features attest that the church was not built by the local population but instead by the settlers from the mainland.

In this church, the Day of St. Luke the Evangelist (October 18th) is celebrated with a holy mass.
