This little church has an important role in the legend that served as an inspiration for the Lastovo Carnival festivities.

The story says that the island was about to be attacked by pirates, who sent a messenger demanding surrender. The people of Lastovo decided to fight, but seeing the enormous pirate fleet also decided to pray - right at the Church of St. George. Miraculously, their prayers were answered since a rather violent storm descended on the pirate ships and destroyed them to bits.

Today, this church is a part of the hiking routes that go to the top of the Hum hill.
