Spajanjem zaselaka Donji Brestovec, Gornji Brestovec i Grančari nastala je današnja općina Zlatar Bistrica. Mjesto se uz spomenuta naselja oformilo oko novostvorene željezničke stanice na pruzi Zagreb-Varaždin 1911. godine.Stanica, a samim time i naselje koje se smjestilo u blizini su ime dobili kombinacijom dva najbliža veća mjesta između kojih se smjestila – Zlataru i Mariji Bistrici, pa otuda i naziv Zlatar Bistrica.Od 1962. Zlatar Bistrica je najveća općina u Hrvatskom zagorju s otprilike 33,000 stanovnika. Općinsko sjedište se nalazilo u središtu Zlatar Bistrice, a sama općina obuhvaćala je današnje gradove i općine Budinšćinu, Hrašćinu, Konjščinu, Lobor, Mihovljan, Novi Golubovec, Mače, Zlatar i Zlatar Bistricu

Our guide took us round to the historical sights in this place. He Was very knowledgeable as he explained the events that took place here. He was very friendly and answered all our questions. We were happy to be here.

The parish was the first thing i noticed as we got into the town, it has a massive structure and great colour, the interior was also a great feat of architecture. The streets were calm and collected i loved driving through here as i was checking out the settlements.

Being the fact that it is located near the railway station, we boarded a railway to tour around. The staff at the railway station were kind to us and they spoke English making communication easy. Will visit this place soon.

The municipalities are well maintained . The residents are commodative and friendly, they made our stay feel comfortable.I enjoyed cycling around this town as I enjoyed its scenic beauty and it's beautiful structural buildings.

This town started as a result of the railway station. It is a small town. I enjoyed admiring its buildings and seeing how the town has grown and developed. It was neatly planned. One could just cycle around this town.
