Krka National Park is located only ten kilometers from Sibenik inland. It covers an area of ​​109 square meters of the most beautiful part of the Krka River and the lower reaches of the Cikola River. This area was declared a national park in 1985 because of its exceptional natural values ​​and the incredible beauty of the landscape.

The park is open to visitors all year round. When planning a visit, it should be borne in mind that this is a very large area - some sites are kilometers apart and separated by natural barriers. Some sites are interconnected by excursion boats, while others can be reached by car. It takes several days to explore the Park in detail, so a multi-day ticket to the Park can be bought.

There are 5 entrances to the park: Entrance Skradin, Entrance Lozovac, Entrance Roski slap / Laskovica, Entrance Burnum / Puljane and Entrance Kistanje / Krka Monastery. Opening hours depend on the time of year.

The most popular way to visit the Park is certainly the hiking trails, of which there are as many as twenty-two. They are connected to five belvederes.

Boat trips in the Krka National Park are also extremely popular. Attractive excursions are organized to Tork, Visovac, Roski slap, Krka monastery and the old Croatian fortifications Trosenje and Necven. In addition to organized excursions, the Park has a schedule of regular boat transport of visitors, which takes place from June to September. Transport is performed on the routes Skradinski buk - Visovac - Skradinski buk, Remetic - Visovac - Remetic, Stinice - Visovac - Stinice and Roski slap - Visovac - Roski slap.

Krka National Park is also very popular among cyclists because it has excellent cycling infrastructure. In the area of ​​the Park, there are as many as 388 kilometers of bicycle paths, on which you can really experience all the beauty of this special natural phenomenon. The bike paths are designed to be circular and to get the user back to the starting point but following a different path. There are a total of 12 trails: three MTB or mountain bike, three Road tracks and six Track tracks for a pleasant family ride.

1. Skradinski Buk - Skradinski Buk is a set of 17 waterfalls whose height is over 45 meters. It is the longest and most visited waterfall on the river Krka, one of the most famous natural beauties of Croatia. The waterfall is formed by travertine barriers, islands and lakes. They can be seen all year round thanks to a network of trails and bridges that allow for a pleasant and safe walk.

2. Roski slap - Roski slap is another famous sight in the Krka National Park. It is a series of 12 waterfalls in an area of ​​450 meters, and the largest of them reaches just over 22 meters in height and 60 meters in width. Roski waterfall is located 36 km downstream from the source of the river Krka. It was named after the Rog fortress, which was located on the right bank of the Krka.

Visovac - The small island of Visovac on the river Krka was inhabited by Franciscan monks in 1445, who first built a monastery (later demolished and then rebuilt in the 18th century) and a church in 1576. The monastery contains many well-preserved artifacts and a valuable library. The island of Visovac is one of the most important natural and cultural values ​​of the Republic of Croatia. Throughout its turbulent history, it has been and remains an island of peace and prayer, and the Franciscan monastery a fortress of spirituality and faith. Because of the centuries-old veneration of the Mother of God, it is called Our Lady's Island. Visovac has always attracted pilgrims, who still make organized pilgrimages using excursion boats of the Krka National Park.

4. Old Mills - On the hill above the river there are old mills that have been turned into small ethnographic museums where you can see how grain was ground in the past. They are a popular attraction for visitors. Heritage interpreters are dressed in folk costumes, which is especially interesting and fun for children who are frequent visitors to the park.

5. Burnum- Burnum is an archeological site, which was a camp and settlement of the Roman Legion. It was built in the 1st century. Remains include a Praetorium, the foundations of several rooms, an amphitheater and an aqueduct. Visitors can see the arches of the command building in the camp, the only military amphitheater in Croatia (in the village of Ivoševci) and several walls of the military training ground.

4. Restaurant Zlatne Skoljke - Restaurant Zlatne Skoljke is located in Skradin, a small town on the banks of the river Krka. It was opened back in 1974 and since then it has successfully attracted and delighted its guests. The interior is warmly decorated with details that exude the Mediterranean. Through a long tradition of making specialties with fresh seafood, it has become a destination for many gastronomes. In addition to high-quality fish specialties, there are also many meat dishes on offer.

I visited the Roski Slap was the best place to be. I loved this place and decided to explore further. Following the guide, I came to Burnum and had a wonderful time.
