Vrana
Vrana ist eine kleine Stadt am Vrana-See, 6 km von Pakostane und 13 km von Biograd na Moru entfernt. Es ist ein Ort mit reicher Geschichte und kulturellem Erbe.In lateinischen Quellen wird die Stadt Aurana, Laurana und Arauzona genannt. Die Festung wurde bereits im 9. Jahrhundert erwähnt und war damals im Besitz der kroatischen Könige. Im Laufe der Geschichte war Vrana unter venezianischer und osmanischer Herrschaft. Von der bewegten Geschichte zeugen die Überreste einer mittelalterlichen Festung, das am besten erhaltene weltliche osmanische Denkmal in Europa - Maskovica han - und die Überreste eines römischen Aquädukts.Der Vrana-See ist nach der Stadt Vrana benannt, da sie sich in der Nähe befindet. Der Vrana-See ist der größte natürliche See in Kroatien und hat den Status eines Naturparks.

The Ottoman Monument in the town of Vrana is rich of history and cultural heritage of the place and the people. The sightseeing at the Roman Aqueduct is awe inspiring, the sun dazzled on the water and formed great colourful colours. I must visit this place next time

I walked around the Vrana lake and the scenery is was outstanding, the aquatic animals gave life to the lake.The cool air in the atmosphere and the sound of the birds in the natural environment was very calming to the soul. Very therapeutic.

The Benedictine monastery in this location is a location with a rich cultural heritage. I learned that it was built in the 9th century and was the first permanent residence for the Vatican in 1076. It was later turned into a military fort in the 16th century. I will visit again soon.

The Jusuf Maskovica inn in this location is a monumental building. I learned that it was built in the 17th century to function as a resting place for travellers and Jusuf himself. I loved the Turkish architectural style used in its construction. I will visit again soon.
