Island of Mljet

The island of Mljet is located a few hours by boat from Dubrovnik. It is a green and peaceful island of the Adriatic coast that many people who visited it consider very seductive. Part of the island of Mljet is also the Croatian National Park.Mljet is one of the most beautiful Croatian islands. This pristine island is covered with dense Mediterranean forest and interspersed with a maze of trails that are ideal for peaceful walking.The sea around the island is deep with an abundance of fish. At the northwestern end of the island there are two connected lakes with clear blue-green water made for swimming and relaxing. This sandy beach is also ideal for swimmers on the easternmost point of the island, in Saplunara, which is considered the most beautiful in Croatia.The best-preserved western part of the island has been declared a national park. Mljet is believed to be the island of Melita where St. Paul and his companions shipwrecked on their way to Rome.
