Insel Krapanj
Die Insel Krapanj ist die kleinste und am wenigsten besiedelte Insel des Archipels von Sibenik. Krapanj ist im Grunde eine flache Steinplatte im Meer (der höchste Punkt ist nur 7 Meter hoch auf der 0,4 km² großen Insel). Der westliche Teil der Insel ist bewaldet, und im östlichen Teil befindet sich das kleine Dorf Krapanj. Die traditionelle Industrie auf der Insel Krapanj sammelt und verarbeitet Schwämme, die die Insel seit Jahrhunderten bewohnen. Deshalb wurde hier auch ein interessantes Schwamm-Museum eröffnet. Bereits im 15. Jahrhundert war Krapanj ein Zufluchtsort für Flüchtlinge vor der türkischen Besatzung. Aus dieser Zeit gibt es ein Franziskanerkloster und eine Kirche. Das Kloster ist wegen des Renaissance-Kreuzgangs und des Gemäldes von Francesco da Santacroce einen Besuch wert. Von Brodarica, einem kleinen Dorf acht Kilometer südlich von Sibenik, verkehrt stündlich ein Boot zur Insel.

The monastery in this Island was so lovely. It was a Franciscan monastery. It was well decorated and its altar was magnificent. This town was really ancient but beautiful. Its view of the sea was amazing.

The Franciscan monastery in this location is a great historical heritage. I toured the location and was awed by the Renaissance cloister and the painting of Francesco de Santacroce that are there. I also learned that the location was a refugee center for Turkish people in the 15th Century.

The sponge museum in this location is quite an interesting destination. I toured the location and discovered that it was a collection of sponges that have occupied the island over the years. The sponges were collected by the traditional industry.

The visit to the museum was superb and we had the opportunity to see the amazing things that are at the museum. Named for its major opening it also the place also a great history that we enjoyed to learn about.

We visited the church and the monastery and it was fabulous. We loved the sight of the paintings and the amazing buildings that they have on them. Remarkable place that we all had the opportunity to visit.
