A small number of hamlets / inhabited places on the island are not located on the northern side of Ugljan, which is separated from Zadar by a few nautical miles. One of these hamlets is Guduce. Calm and serene, it is an ideal place to take a break from the city noise, the constant ringing of mobile phones, the huge amount of mail and the crowded schedule. Since it is located on the south side of Ugljan, Guduce offers an unobstructed view of the neighboring islands of Izh, Rava, Sestrunj and Dugi otok. In the immediate vicinity of the hamlet of Guduce is the oldest preserved church in Ugljan - the church of St. Cosmas and Damian dating from the 11th or 12th century. According to legend, it was built as a votive church by the merchant Torricella who escaped in a shipwreck and swam to that place.
