The island of Mljet is located a few hours by boat from Dubrovnik. It is a green and peaceful island of the Adriatic coast that many people who visited it consider very seductive. At the northwestern end of the island there are two connected lakes with clear blue-green water made for swimming and relaxing. This sandy beach is also ideal for swimmers on the easternmost point of the island, in Saplunara, which is considered the most beautiful in Croatia.The best-preserved western part of the island has been declared a national park. Mljet is believed to be the island of Melita where St. Paul and his companions shipwrecked on their way to Rome.
