The eastern, i.e. The Main City Gate of medieval Vrsar, is located right next to the beautiful church of St. Foshka.
It was the main entrance to the city, which only in the 19th century expanded beyond the ring of old walls, and where until then there was only a few lonely houses or churches. The door dates from the 13th century and is simply decorated with a semicircular Romanesque arch. It is believed that the lion that adorns this gate was brought from somewhere since the reliefs of Venetian lions appear at the end of the 13th century and Vrsar was part of the Poreč diocese in the period from the 10th to the 18th century. In front of the door, on the left, is the building of the first primary school in Vrsar, built in the 19th century.
