Since its founding in Pichan on June 20, 2011, the Center for Intangible Culture of Istria of the Ethnographic Museum of Istria has been directing its tasks towards a clearer understanding of intangible culture and creating a new space for its more argumentative acceptance and presentation. Intangible culture implies the life force of knowledge and practices that are passed from generation to generation and are in constant motion. It does not rest, it dynamically takes on new forms and nuances given to it by people in response to its ambience, its interaction with nature and history. Intangible culture is the essence of community identity, and through its values the awareness of the importance of respecting cultural diversity and encouraging creative potentials is strengthened.
