The Old Town of Gradisce developed on a picturesque hill, on the site where there was once a cult place dedicated to the Old Slavic god Perun. In history, the whole city was surrounded by walls and divided into quarters. Each quarter had a square with a church in the center. That urban structure has been preserved to this day. The most representative is the central square with the Church of the Mother of God, which is reached through the west door with a loggia from the 16th century.
