Kazhuni have traditionally been used as shelters for farmers and shepherds in remote fields, and for storing tools. They were erected in areas where the stone had to be removed to get fertile land. They are famous for its dimensions and a certain way of construction, the so-called drywall building, simply placing stones on top of each other without any connection.
In order to preserve this historical specificity, not far from the beautiful Vodnjan, Kazhun Park was opened, which shows the four phases of the construction of the kazun, from its foundations, walls and roofs to the final appearance. Kazhun Park is an open-air museum that shows the Istrian tradition of construction.
