The monument to the first Croatian king was erected after the Second World War in 1947, although the famous sculptor built it in 1938. The monument itself is positioned opposite the historic building of the Central Station, in the landscaped park Zrinjevac where many visitors enjoy the Zagreb sun. It is said that a wise ruler who defended Croatia and fought against the Hungarians and Bulgarians, led the largest Croatian army in history, and in 925, with the blessing of Pope John X, was crowned the first Croatian king.
