This massive tower together with its clock was built over the Port Gate which once connected the port and the city walls. Namely, numerous written documents indicate the existence of the clock even before its recorded repairs. Interestingly, before this tower, there was another tower, which was renovated in the middle of the 16th century by Izidor Stoshich - a famous Cres builder, and in its place rises today's clock tower. Within the tower there is a dividing wreath that separates the first floor, and in the lower part you can find the lion of St. Mark. Above the cornice is a low roof ballast around the space where the massive city bell is located.
