St. Mary's is a three-nave church with a square ground plan, the side walls of which have been preserved almost at their original height, and its size indicates the large population of the nearby castrum. A Benedictine monastery was built next to the basilica, which stretched north and south of the church. St. Mary's Basilica is an unavoidable place for anyone who really wants to get to know the history of Brijuni.
