The ERA Art Gallery is a charming little place of art, nested in Novalja’s center, not far from the Church of St. Katherine, and perhaps the most important beacon of the town’s culture. The importance of this gallery cannot be emphasised enough: Era was there to help Novalja bloom from an almost isolated fisherman town into the little Mediterranean gem that it is now. It was there to help transform its nearly provincial state of mind into one that is open and receptive to artistic and spiritual development, transcending its own limitations.

Founded by the architect and artist Dominik Kunkera, the gallery has been the center of Novalja’s cultural and artistic development since the late 80ies, supporting local artists and bringing Art into the spotlight through numerous exhibitions and various events attended by some of the most significant artists in Croatia (Mersad Berber, Edo Murtić and Greta Vizler are just some of the many names that have exhibited their works in this gallery). To this very day, the Era Gallery remains a beloved place of Novalja, a guiding light for the community’s future in art.
