The place Krizhpolje used to be called Krizhevachko Polje, and even before it was called Krizh (there are records from 1654), and according to the legend, a large cross fell in Krizhpolje after which the place was named. The church in Krizhpolje is dedicated to the Assumption of St. Crisis. It was built in 1821 in the parish of the same name, which was founded in 1820, and the feast of the Exaltation of St. Cross (Krizhevo) is celebrated as the most important holiday of the place.
