The history of Christianity in the area of ​​Hrvatska Kostajnica was marked by centuries of resistance from the Ottomans. Through periods of turmoil and resistance, the parish church changed its location and today is located in the very center of the city, at the place where it was built by the Franciscan order in the 18th century.

The parish church of St. Anthony of Padua, built in the Baroque style, has suffered destruction throughout history and is now completely restored.
