The port of Opatija is certainly the oldest port in Opatija, located in front of the church of St. Jakov and the pavilion Juraj Shporer hides. Namely, in the past it was the place of departure of traditional excursion boats of Opatija's barcajolas - a profession that arose primarily from the need to transport cargo, and then passengers and tourists. Today, right in front of this portico is the famous bronze sculpture in honor of tradition - Opatija Barkajol, reminiscent of the times when this small port was an important gathering place. Barkajol was and will remain a symbol of Opatija and its tourism.
