The place where a cultural monument of the Croatian people from 1100 was found in 1851, Bashchanska plocha. These are 13 lines of text written in Glagolitic script, which speaks of the grant of Croatian King Zvonimir to the church of Sv. Lucy here in Jurandvor.
Glagolitic is an Old Slavic alphabet from the 9th century. The name of the letter came from the word verb to mean to speak. To make it easier to remember the order of the letters they have their own meaning. The first nine would read something like this: I know the letter knowing it is good to live on Earth.
In honor of the Glagolitic alphabet, a path of stone sculptures was formed today along the Baška valley. A total of 35 of them are the work of the academic sculptor Ljubo de Karina.
