Kloster St. Pavle Pustinjak
Das Kloster wurde nach dem Schutzpatron der Paulinermönche benannt, die früher in der Kirche am selben Ort wohnten und später nach Ungarn gingen. Vor vierhundert Jahren war das Kloster eine Art Krankenstation, in der Pestkranke gepflegt wurden, und deshalb wird eine Insel mit dem Namen Galevac oder Skoljic manchmal auch Lazaret genannt.
Das Kloster hatte einst eine berühmte Druckerei, in der mit Hilfe des kroatischen Erweckers Ivo Prodan kroatische patriotische Texte gedruckt wurden. Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg musste die Druckerei wegen der damaligen italienischen Herrschaft verlegt werden, kehrte aber später zurück und war jahrzehntelang in Betrieb. Leider wurde die Druckerei nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg von Titos Pertizianern zerstört, aber ihre Überreste befinden sich noch immer auf dem Gelände des Klosters. Ivo Prodan selbst wurde auf dem Friedhof neben dem Kloster begraben.

I loved the view of the town from the island during the evening sunset, the buildings were so bright and had an orange colour

The Tour at the monastery led us to the amazing sculptures and the fabulous art and paintings on the walls of the church that are awesome and we loved them.

The monastery was so calm and quiet, i visited there to calm my mind as i walked through the old geezer, it was so relaxing and charming place, the building was cool i liked it

I took my wife and 2 kids to Pavle Puntinjak. The monastery was a great place for the family. There is plenty of room to walk around the monastery and marvel at the beautiful stonework carved into the mountainside. It is located right next to Plitvice National Park, and while you are at the monastery you can look down into the valley.
