Smještena je izvan gradskih zidina. Izgrađena je kako bi grad Dubrovnik sačuvala od napada Mlečana, a i općenito radi zaštite morskog prilaza gradu. Danas je ova tvrđava poznata jer se tijekom ljetnih mjeseci mnogobrojne predstave u sklopu Dubrovačkih ljetnih igara od kojih je najpoznatiji Shakespearov Hamlet. Svojom kamenom i čvrstom strukturom stajati će do daleko u budućnost.

This fortress caught my eyes from the outside. Its ancient architectural design and structure is just mesmerizing. It is still in good condition despite it being over a century old. The view of Adriatic sea was fantastic.Touring this place was a magical experience.

The tour guide was chatty and awesome and we loved the tour around the fort. Wonderful place and worth the visit.

while the fortress is a beautiful strong structure, what I enjoyed most was the festival held at the fortress. It was great. a mix of tradition culture and modern performances were the highlight of my stay. I will definitely love to tour this place again
