The Typhlological Museum in Zagreb was founded and opened to the public in 1953. It is one of only a few such museums in the wider area that actively presents the problems of people with disabilities, especially those with impaired vision. Today, the museum has a permanent exhibition of exhibits and contents closely related to upbringing, education, rehabilitation, everyday life and artistic expression of blind and partially sighted people. All persons with disabilities can join the museum and actively participate in the activities and work, and a great response of self-taught painters and sculptors has been achieved. Also, workshops, thematic exhibitions and lectures are very frequent.
