This area was declared a significant landscape in 1971.

It stretches north of the town of Imotski and includes both Red and Blue Lakes. It is divided into two parts. The first part, or, the eastern part, has been designed as a park, and it is historically more important. It is dominated by a black pine forest that was planted after the First World War. This, as well as the horticultural arrangement of this part of the current park, was initiated by the forestry expert Boris Hyperborean. The black pine forest also covers the western part of this significant landscape, and both parts together spread over 415.84 hectares.
