The place where the remains of the Petrapilosa Castle are today is mentioned in the 10th century, as the site of the Ruin Fortress. The Castle survived until the end of the 18th century. Over the centuries, this was an excellent military-defensive position from which one could control the entire valley of the river Mirna and central Istria. It is not surprising that there were frequent fights over the power over the fort. Church of St. Mary Magdalene within the Castle was in function for some time after the life in the fort was extinguished. During the restoration in 1999, the remains of valuable medieval frescoes were found, which are kept today in the Homeland Museum in Buzet.

At the current time, the castle is open to tourists, light and audio improvisations are organized in it. You can climb to the top of the castle and look at the entire valley, as the first owners of the castle did.
