At the place where the islands of Loshinj and Cres are most popular, there is a small town that experienced its moment of glory in ancient times, and today is actually an open-air museum. During the Roman Empire it served as a fortress city, it was a port that in its time was full of trade while its owners changed throughout history.

The oldest part is pretty much abandoned but has dozens of beautiful old buildings. The rest of the town dates from the post WW2 rebuilding, and it has a working marina. This is the second time I am visiting this place. It is wonderful.
