Dense and lush, the Kontija forest is located between the settlements of Kloshtar, Gradina and Flengi.
The forest, which stretches over a magnificent 65 hectares, is dominated by white hornbeam vegetation, which is almost 140 years old. The forest has very well-kept hiking and biking trails therefore, this area is ideal for long walks, cycling and other types of recreation, in which you will simply enjoy and relax your mind and body.
Within the forest area there is also the Mukaba hillfort, which is one of the most beautiful examples of a prehistoric settlement. It counts many remains of fortifications built using the drywall technique. From Mukaba stretches one of the most beautiful natural lookouts on the Gulf of Lim, the church of St. Euphemia in Rovinj and Vrsar. At the very entrance to the forest, there are posters that show various species of fungi, trees, animals and various vegetations that grow and inhabit here.
