Among the remains of the buildings in Solin, the complex known as Gradina (Hill-fortress), along the river and the eastern walls of the Roman city, is of special interest. The church with an unusual floor plan, built over the Roman remains of the era, is today housed in a medieval fortress. According to some authors, this was built by the Archbishop of Split Ugolino de Mala Branca (1349 - 1388) in order to protect the people of Split from Klišan. Today it is housed in a fortress built during the Venetian-Turkish wars, in the 16th century.
