With a land gate, adorned with the figure of St. Krshevan on horseback, at the very entrance to the heart of the city of Zadar, the curious will find a small harbor and promenade Fosa. It was built in 1543 and designed by the famous Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli, who was also the chief military engineer, so he was sent to Zadar in 1537 to build defenses, bastions and walls. This masterpiece is an example of Renaissance architecture, and is one of the most beautiful monuments of that time in Dalmatia.
