Dinosaur footprints

Dinosaur footprints could be preserved only if they moved over a soft surface and thus left traces. The impressions had to be covered with sediment (other than the substrate) and remain intact until diagenetic processes lithify the sediment and turn it into a consolidated rock. The prints are therefore rare and extremely valuable.

So far, Dinosaur footprints have been discovered at four sites on Veliki Brijun and on the islands of Vanga, Gaul and Vrsar.
