The city market in Rijeka dates back to the 19th century. Then it appeared along the coast, mostly because local fishermen in those places unloaded the fish they caught and immediately offered it for purchase. In 1866, a fish market was built to make it easier for them. Later, the market was upgraded so that people could sell other goods besides fish. Today, the market is a destination for many residents of Rijeka, and it is also attractive to visitors and tourists, not only to buy something for themselves but to feel that kind of breath of history and the spirit of the inhabitants of this city that has never disappeared.
