The entrance to the town of Senj is adorned with a large gate, which is unfortunately the only remaining historic town gate with a preserved position and shape. Josephine Gate, as it is also called, was built between 1775 and 1779, during the construction of Josephine Road, after which it received this alternative name. Also, this is the youngest gate that is part of the fortification of the historic center of Senj.
