On the way to Motovun, it pays to stop in the beautiful Istrian village of Sveti Petar in the Forest. The place originated on the site of an old Benedictine monastery and later a Pauline one. In the 17th century it was an important cultural center. The center of the village is dominated by the Church of St. Peter and Paul completed and consecrated back in 1755. The interior of the church is lavish and beautiful, and has not been destroyed by the ravages of time. The church has a high-quality, well-preserved late Baroque inventory that leaves you breathless. In the center of this village is a historic Pauline monastery with solid stone walls surrounded by a landscaped garden and a large square.
