Church of St. Nicolas

According to the old tradition, the Benedictines came here from the island of Bishevo, where they could no longer defend themselves from pirate attacks, so they built a fortified monastery above Komizha. The Benedictines left the monastery in the 15th century, while the upgrades lasted until the 18th century. in the meantime, the church became a parish and cemetery church in Komizha, and today the locals call this church Muster (probably derived from the Latin monasterium = monastery).

In this unique five-nave church is the oldest part of the Romanesque church, today the northern nave with a semicircular sanctuary. The cloister and apartment buildings probably existed on its south side, on the site of today's church. This early monastery was fortified, of which two towers have survived - the more prominent, in the southern part of the 13th century, still set today as one of the oldest in Dalmatia - and the smaller on which was the church bell tower erected in the 18th century.
